Animal fat refining is the process of extracting oil from animal adipose tissue. The principle involves the melting point of fats and the physical changes that occur after heating, such as the rupture of fat cells and the separation of oils. The process includes steps such as raw material pretreatment, heating and refining, separation of impurities, and further refining.

The methods can be dry or wet refining, or various treatment methods for different animal types, such as beef tallow and lard. Raw materials include the fat tissues of various animals (lard, beef fat, sheep fat) which are classified into "refined food grade", "premium pet feed grade", and "ordinary feed grade" after refining.
